Obituary for Peter Frederick Wilkins

SEYMOUR CT: Peter Frederick Wilkins, age 84, of Seymour entered into peaceful rest January 29, 2009 at the Griffin Hospital, Derby; he was the beloved husband of fifty seven years to Mary (Demanchyk) Wilkins. Peter was born June 10, 1924 in Derby, son of the late Frederick and Mabel (Lundvall) Wilkins. He was retired from the Anaconda American Brass in Ansonia, and was formerly employed at AVCO in Stratford; Peter was also a former Canine Control Officer in Seymour. Mr. Wilkins served for eight years with the Merchant Marines and was a Veteran of WW II; he received the Connecticut Wartime Veteran’s Service Medal. In his youth, Peter played softball with the Windy Hill Team of Ansonia and assisted them to win their Championship in 1955. He was a die-hard Boston Red Sox Baseball fan. Peter’s other interests included hunting and fishing; also he loved bird watching and will be fondly remembered as a feeder of birds. He loved nature and just being outside as well having a love of travel. In addition to his wife, Peter leaves his loving family including, four children, Frederick Shawn Wilkins, June E. Guerrera both of Seymour, Lenore Anne Nolan of Hamden, and Peter Glenn Wilkins of New York, NY, three grandchildren, Nicole Ryan Shaw of Seymour, and Kaitlin June and Brian Jeffrey Danielecki both of Hamden. His son-in-law, Mark D. Guerrera predeceased him.
All services are private. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour.
