Obituary for Philip Bogen

Philip   Bogen
Philip Bogen, 78, of Oxford died peacefully, Jan. 23, 2013, in his home surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. He was the husband to his high school sweetheart, Joan M. DeRosa Bogen, for over 57 years. Mr. Bogen was born in 1934 in Meriden to the late Harry and Stella Bogen. He was proud to be a U. S. Navy Veteran, dedicating 4 years to our Country. After his service in the Navy he worked at Metro’s in Bridgeport while attending the CT School of Electronics. Upon graduation, Philip became employed by Perkin/Elmer, where he was an Electronic Engineer until his retirement after 35 years with the company. Philip resided with his bride and love of his life, in Huntington for 44 years until moving to Oxford in 2008 to live with his children and grandchildren. Philip leaves his beloved wife, Joan, his devoted son, Christopher Bogen and his wife, Trish, his 3 loving grandchildren, William, Kimberlyn and Victoria Bogen, who will miss their Papa dearly, his brother David Bogen and his wife Patricia, sister in law Sandee Bogen, his beloved brother and sister in law, Day and Aggie DeRosa, his beloved sisters in laws\ Teri Pavone and Barbara Paul and friend George Cambourakis, his brother in laws, Vincent DeRosa and Frank Colacurcio, his nephews Dave Bogen and his wife Donna their two daughters Joanne and Sarah, Doug Bogen and his wife Deanna their two sons Shaun and Ryan, Daniel Bogen and his wife, Allyson and daughter Anastasia, Day DeRosa and his wife Maureen, Douglas DeRosa and his wife Dianna and their two sons, Enzo and Gino, and John Paul and his two children Samantha and John. He was predeceased by a brother, Dennis Bogen and two sisters in law, Peggy DeRosa and Joanne Bogen. He also leaves behind his many friends whom he has cherished throughout his life. Phil loved bowling at Nutmeg Bowl in Fairfield golfing with his friends, fishing with his grandchildren and showing his pride as he watched his grandchildren play and succeed in the sports they loved. Phil’s smile, jokes, and vibrant personality will be missed by all. We are very grateful for the gentle, loving care of Phil, by our new family friend Eloise Rentz. The hours you spent with Phil caring for his well being, keeping him company, watching his old movies with him, just being there with him and for him, you are truly a blessing. We are also grateful to the hospice care givers from VITAS for the wonderful care in his final days. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 10:30 a.m. (Directly) at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Interment will be held in the spring. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour.
