Life Story for Ralph Salvesen

Ralph  Salvesen
OXFORD, CT: Ralph A. Salvesen, age 89 of Oxford entered into peaceful rest February 11, 2010 at Danbury Hospital with his devoted family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Virginia “Jinny” (Brundage) Salvesen. Mr. Salvesen was born August 27, 1920 in Staten Island, NY, son of the late Anton and Anne (Nelson) Salvesen. Ralph retired as owner of the Western Auto Store in Pearl River, NY, and later retired as an Agent from Prudential Insurance Company. He was a WW II U.S. Navy veteran. Ralph was a communicant of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Oxford, and also of Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Tabernacle, NJ. Ralph had a passion for music and enjoyed singing various choral groups, choirs and in plays. He will be most remembered for his love for his family. In addition to his wife, Ralph leaves his loving family including 3 sons, Roger Salvesen and his wife Patricia of Rio Rancho, NM, Donald Salvesen and his wife Melanie of Southbury, and James Salvesen and his wife Nadine of Ridgefield, 3 daughters, Lynn Wirth and her husband, David of Hillsborough, NJ, Joan Rickle and her husband, Layne of Gastonia, NC, and Tricia Van Buiten and her husband Chris of Oxford, 2 brothers, Robert Salvesen of Lakewood, NJ, and Cliff Salvesen of Kutztown, PA, 18 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. His brother, Kenneth Salvesen, sister, Ruth Wilhelmsen and a great grandson predeceased him. A Memorial Service in celebration of Ralph’s life will be held Monday February 15, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 25 Great Hill Rd., Oxford. Interment will be private. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 161 West Church Street, Seymour.
