OXFORD, CT: Robert A. Stanton, age 95 a lifelong Oxford resident, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2019 at his home with his devoted family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of the late Laura (Blakeslee) Stanton. Mr. Stanton was born on December 28, 1923, son of the late Alanson and Elsie (Roberts) Stanton. Robert was the retired founder of R. A. Stanton and Sons of Oxford, and was a Building Contractor since 1946. He was a WW II US Army Air Corps Veteran and was a member of the David S. Miles Post 174 American Legion, Oxford; he also enjoyed attending many of his Army Reunions in the years since. Mr. Stanton was a Communicant of Christ Episcopal Church, formerly served on the Vestry and was a long time Senior Warden there. He was a Board Member and President for many years of the Quaker Farms Cemetery Assn., and was a volunteer Firefighter with the Quaker Farms Fire Dept. Robert also previously enjoyed volunteering with his wife with the Housatonic Council Boy Scouts of America.

Robert leaves his loving family including his sons, Sam Stanton (Julie) of Oxford, Bill Stanton (Becky) of Carmel, NY, and Ray Stanton (June) of Oxford, his grandson, Austin (Missy); great grandchildren, Hope, Walker, Elsie, and Sage, and several nieces and nephews. HIs brothers, Edward, Lloyd, and David, and grandson Travis predeceased him.

Friends may call on Saturday from 10 to 11 AM in the Parish Hall of Christ Church, 470 Quaker Farms Rd., Oxford. A Memorial Service in celebration of Robert's life will immediately follow at 11 AM in the Christ Church; full Military Honors will follow. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Gifts may be sent to Quaker Farms Cemetery Assn, c/o Ronald Stebar, 410 Quaker Farms Rd., Oxford, CT 06478. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ralph E.
