Obituary for Robin Diaz

Robin Diaz, aged 54, of Bethany, CT passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7th 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Robin worked her entire adult life. Her first career was in the culinary arts field where she learned so much. She was famous for her cooking and especially for her chicken noodle and pea soups; she truly believed cooking was a universal language of love. A short time after her culinary career began she had a new “job;” not necessarily a job but a blessing and that title came as Mom. She will forever be the proud mom of her three children. Her son, David and his wife Jessica are the best parents to her adorable first grandson, Silas who live in NYC. Her beautiful daughter Brittany and her husband Rob are the super parents of her two sweet granddaughters Aubrey and Makenzie who live in Georgia. The Lord called her youngest daughter Dana home much too soon when she passed away nearly five years ago at the tender age of 19 years old; a tragedy she would wish on no mother or anyone.

Robin went back to work again when her children were older. She discovered that her guilty pleasure was in helping others and that led her into a 28 year adventure in health care. She met so many different people of different cultures, different beliefs, and came to understand how diverse the world truly is. She found happiness in making someone smile; helping with their day become just a little happier or being the person they can always rely on for help or anything. Robin believed that this can be done by anyone in so many different ways if we all just took a little time; it's what she loved to do!

Robin was also blessed to find true and unconditional love in marrying her soulmate and husband of five years, Jose Diaz. The joy and love they shared have been a blessing to her life and to her family.

Robin will be remembered by her family and friends for having fought valiantly in the last one and half years as she shared her diagnosis first with family and then more publicly. She filled her days with impressive home and craft projects, lunch dates with close friends, and of course quality family time with her husband, family and grandkids who she loved to spoil rotten. Robin had so much love and good to give.

Robin’s kind heart and loving spirit will live on forever in her husband Jose Diaz of Bethany; her children, David McWilliams of NY and her daughter Brittany Nebelsky of GA; her grandchildren, Aubrey, Makenzie and Silas; her sister Tracy and brother Floyd of Bethany, and her Aunt Lee Shlafer of Stratford; her beloved pets, and all of her extended family and loving friends who meant more to her than she could ever express.

Relatives and friends can greet the family on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 9:30 am until 11:30 am in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour, CT 06483. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ASPCA in honor of Robin.
