SEYMOUR, CT: Ruth Evelyn Gliford, age 97 peacefully died Feb. 11, 2013 at Shady Knoll Health Care. She was born Nov. 6, 1915 in Waterbury, daughter of the late John and Adella (Zedat) Kukat. Ruth grew up in Seymour, raised her family in Oxford, and retired to Hawthorne, FL. She was the beloved wife of 53 years to the late Carl R. Gliford. Following his passing she moved back to Seymour. Mrs. Gliford retired from the Uniroyal Footwear in Naugatuck; she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Oxford, and was a member of the Ladies Aide Society there. Ruth was a member of the Seymour and Oxford Senior Centers' she enjoyed cooking, playing cards, bingo, crocheting and travel. She especially loved her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She also leaves her sons, Arthur C. Gliford, Sr. and his wife Dot of Naugatuck, and Carl E. Gliford and his wife Mary Jane of Oxford, grandchildren, Tari Gliford-Lavorgna of Seymour, John Gliford in North Carolina, Arthur Gliford, Jr. of Seymour, Carl Gliford, Jr. of Seymour, Catherine Gliford-Cable of Prospect, 11 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Her brother Adam J. (Kukat) Cook predeceased her. Ruth's family extends their gratitude to the staff of Shady Knoll and the Hospice caregivers for their kindness.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11a.m. at Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour. Interment will be in spring in Trinity Cemetery.
