Mrs. Shelly S. Steig, beloved wife of 36 years to Charles S. Steig of Seymour, entered peaceful rest on Monday, July 7, 2014 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport.

Mrs. Steig was born on April 4, 1951 in Stamford and was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Beatrice (Jordan) Swatland. She grew up in Stamford and moved to Norwalk where she and Charles raised their children and later moved to Seymour.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her two devoted children, Jake J. Steig and his wife Elaine of Canton, Michigan and Matt D. Steig of Seymour, two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Grayson Steig of Canton, Michigan. She also leaves her sister, Maureen McCarthy, of Roswell, GA and her brother, Daniel Keinle of Sandwich, MA and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed also by her beloved dachshund, Spike.

Services will be held in private. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Elephant Sanctuary, 183 Buck Hollow Road, Hohenwald, TN 38462.
