Obituary for Stella B. MacDonald (Cooper)

SOUTHBURY, CT: Stella B. (Cooper) MacDonald, 87 of Southbury entered into peaceful rest July 7, 2011 at home with her devoted family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert D. MacDonald. Mrs. MacDonald was born May 18, 1924 in Derby, daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Orzechawska) Krupa. She resided most of her life in Oxford, prior to taking ill. Mrs. MacDonald was a dedicated licensed Practical Nurse and retired from Yale New Haven Hospital after 35 years. Stella was a lifelong devout communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Oxford. She enjoyed the outdoors, and cherishing time with her family; cooking Polish dishes and boating and fishing. In her private daily moments she loved to pray the Rosary.

Stella leaves her loving family including her caretaker- her devoted and loving daughter Roberta L. O'Dell with whom she resided, four cherished grandchildren, Christine O'Dell-Troia of Oxford, S. Scott O'Dell, Cynthia Markus, and Michael O'Dell all of Southbury, four great grandchildren, Aaron and Lauren Troia of Oxford, Cheryl Johnson and Michael Markus of Southbury, sisters-in-law, Sophia (Tetlak) Cooper in FLA, and Frances(MacDonald) Kinney in N.H., and several generations of nieces and nephews. She was the youngest of nine, and was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters, and her loving son-in-law, Stephen D. O'Dell.

Funeral services will be Monday with a prayer vigil at 10:00 a.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church St., Seymour, with a mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Thomas The Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd., Oxford. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Derby. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, or to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
