Obituary for Suzanne Giannone (O'Callaghan)

SEYMOUR - Suzanne Margaret (O’Callaghan) Giannone, age 85 of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Giannone, entered into peaceful rest on Monday, August 12, 2019, in her home surrounded by her family. Born in Ansonia on November 18, 1933, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Lane) O’Callaghan. Sue worked at The Griffin Hospital in both the Pharmacy & The ER, at Dr. Molls Office, and the old Derby Savings (the ER by far her fave). A true sports fan, She loved the NY Giants & her UCONN HUSKIES. Sadly, she often viewed the Games alone as her salty words directed at the Officials put her in timeout! Sue volunteered at Griffin Hospital for many years after her retirement, her photo can still be seen in the Hospital Lobby. A dedicated Mother, and employee, with a work ethic beyond compare. “Suzie” loved her Irish Heritage, which was evident by her zest for Life and her welcoming of friends into the her home, enjoying song & dance and (often) a drink or two (which surely helped with her singing). She would answer to Sue, Suzie, Mrs G, and yes, even Mrs. Costanza. She will always be remembered for her smile, her brilliant blue eyes, her Irish sense of humor, and for her love of life, family & friends. Survivors include her loving sons, Bob Giannone and his wife Dayna of Crested Butte, CO, Jody Giannone and his wife Lauren of Washington, CT and John Giannone of Seymour; granddaughter Lane Giannone of Crested Butte, CO, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Casey Giannone (her Angel), and sisters Eileen O’Callaghan, and Jane Miller and her husband Joe. Calling Hours will be held Friday, August 16, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. A Funeral Service in celebration of her life will immediately begin at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be private. Memorial Gifts may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 279 New Britain Rd., Ste 5, Kensington, CT 06037.
