Life Story for Thomas F. Fassbender

SEYMOUR, CT: Thomas F. Fassbender, age 80 a longtime Seymour resident formerly of Bethany entered into peaceful rest February 13, 2010 at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth (Rutland) Fassbender. Mr. Fassbender was born June 2, 1929 in Derby, son of the late William J., Sr. and Margaret (Buswell) Fassbender. He was retired from Southern New England Telephone where he worked as a PBX Repairman. Thomas was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church, and he was former firefighter with Citizens Engine Co. No.2. He was a member of the Russian – American Club and St. Sebastian’s Society. Tom was known for his love of singing and was quick to tell a joke. In his leisure time Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a fan of NASCAR Racing. Mr. Fassbender leaves his loving family including a daughter, Barbara Bunting and her husband Charles, Jr. of Bethany, two sons, Thomas F. Fassbender, Jr. and his wife Cee-Cee of Bethany, and Robert Fassbender and his wife Linda of Middletown , seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, a niece and a nephew. He was predeceased by his daughter Linda Fassbender, and brother William Fassbender, Jr.
A funeral service in celebration of Tom’s life will be held Saturday February 20th at 2:00 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Interment will be private in Trinity Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call also on Saturday prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492, or to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108.
