Obituary for Vincent Yacovelli

On September 20, 2018, Vincent P. Yacovelli, loving father of four children passed away unexpectedly at the age of 63. Vincent was born November 26, 1954 in Bridgeport, CT to Ellen and Rocco Yacovelli. As the second child of four, Vincent graduated from Central High School in Bridgeport, CT in 1972.
Upon graduation Vincent followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Armed Forces. Vincent served on the Mobile Support Team, River Division 573, aboard the USS Portland in Cambodia and Da-Nang Vietnam from 1972-1975. After his discharge from the United States Navy, Vincent became employed by the Connecticut Department of Transportation where he would retire as supervisor after 37 years. He was currently working part-time at Barone’s Sports Café.
Vincent loved his children and grandchildren immensely, taking every opportunity he could to show off all their newest pictures or accomplishments. He also loved fishing and music, especially the song “Heaven” by Los Lonely Boys. He was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Vinny had an unbelievable amount of close friends that he loved to laugh with. One of his greatest joys was watching Oxford sports and helping out in the "snack shack".
Vincent was preceded in death by his father Rocco and his mother Ellen. He will be missed by all that knew him, including his beloved children, Marie Yacovelli & her fiancé Desmond Campbell of Charlotte, NC, Michael Yacovelli & his wife Angela of Ossining, NY, Ellen Yacovelli of Oxford, CT, and Joseph Yacovelli of Oxford, CT; sisters, Kathy Fellows of Newtown, CT, Karen Yacovelli of Newtown, CT, and his brother, Eric Yacovelli of Newtown, CT; grandchildren, Felicia, Justyn, Desmond Jr., Rocco, Zoe, and Liliana; several nieces and nephews; his former wife and good friend Charlene Yacovelli of Oxford, CT as well as an extraordinary amount of friends.
Relatives and friends may call at the Ralph E Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483, September 30, 2018, from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Vinny’s memory can be made to the American Legion, Post 174, 43 Oxford Rd. Oxford, CT 06478.
