Obituary for Vladimir A. "Vlad" Vansak

Vladimir A. Vansak, 93, of Oxford, CT passed away peacefully on October, 1, 2023, with his family by his side. Vlad was born June 8, 1930, the son of the late Helen & Alexander Vansak. He was also predeceased by a sister, Valentina Woliver. He leaves his wife of almost 69 years, Carol (Spivak) Vansak, his sister Alexandra Gratsias and several nieces & nephews. He will also be deeply missed by close family friends Ralph Tilquist & JoElle Anderson. Together they enjoyed going out to eat, shopping, and just hanging out at home having great conversations.
Originally from West Haven, Vlad graduated from UConn Cum Laude in 1952. Vladimir had a brilliant mind, taking engineering courses at UConn while majoring in animal husbandry. He was most proud of having designed and built his home & state of the art chicken coops. He owned & operated Vansak Poultry Farms for 22 years in Oxford, Southbury and West Haven. After retiring from being a business owner, he went to work for First Federal Bank and Bank of New Haven as an assistant branch manager.
Vlad was the past president of the Oxford Lions Club, president of the Oxford Business Association, a member of the Oxford RTC as well as a member of the Oxford Board of Education. He also was president of the Connecticut Poultry Association, treasurer of the Connecticut Farm Bureau, and the director at Woodbury Vo-Ag School, as well as a member of the Hamden Poultrymen Cooperative, and the Social Chairman New Haven Uconn Chapter.
Vladimir & Carol traveled extensively around the U.S.,and also enjoyed visiting Mexico, Europe, and Russia. His hobbies included power boating, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He had a very strong will to live despite facing several significant health challenges towards the end of his life. He fought them with determination and dignity. He will be greatly missed.
There are no Calling Hours. All services are private. The arrangements have been entrusted to the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour
