Obituary for Walter Karlac

Walter  Karlac
OXFORD- Mr. Walter Karlac, age 82, beloved husband of 62 years to Jeannie Marie (Mumper) Karlac of Oxford passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at his home. He was born on January 11, 1926 in Seymour to the late Samuel and Henrietta (Madgic) Karlac. Mr. Karlac was a Data Processing Manager for Singer Manufacturing Company and formerly a manager in the computer department for Casio Products Company, Bridgeport. He was a member of the Association of System Managers. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving during WWII with the 76th Division in Europe and was wounded twice and received the Purple Heart with the Oak Leaf Cluster and also received the Bronze Star for bravery. He was also a part of the 40th and 8th Division. Mr. Karlac was a member of the VFW Post 146 in Oxford, DAV Post in Derby. He was past Post Commander of Post 174 American Legion in Oxford, were he was also in charge of decorating Veteran’s graves in Oxford for over 40 years. In addition to his devoted wife, he leaves four children, Pamela J. Underwood of Palm Bay, FL, Robert G. Karlac of Bonners Ferry, ID, Thomas G. Karlac of Seymour and Jean Marie Wilkins of Oxford and four sisters, Ann Ajello, Rose Miles, Helen Skrobat and Millie Breda and five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 18 at 11 a.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Interment with military honors will follow in Great Hill Cemetery, Seymour.
