Obituary for William ""Tom"" Hellyar

William ""Tom""  Hellyar
SHELTON: Mr. William “Tom” Hellyar, age 84, of Shelton, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2009 in CT Hospice, Branford. Tom was born on July 2, 1924 in Ansonia to the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Langston) Hellyar. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Tom was an executive manager for the American Cancer Society for 31 years before his retirement in 1988. Tom is survived by two loving sisters, Dorris Smolenski of Naugatuck and Eileen Kittredge, Sandwich, MA and two nieces, Bonnie Monahan and Debbie Kosma both of Naugatuck and a nephew, Tom Peters of Nashville, TN. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Pine Grove Cemetery Chapel, Church Street, Ansonia. Committal will be private. Memorial contributions may be in Tom’s memory to Christ Church, 56 South Cliff Street, Ansonia, CT 06401.
