Life Story for William Cox Hollett

William Cox Hollett, 78, died in Oxford Connecticut on June 6, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill’s wit, humor and grace will be sorely missed by his family; his wife of 57 years Alice Whitlock Hollett; daughter Robin Hollett Wilcox of Newtown, CT and son Douglas Whitlock Hollett and his wife Pamela Melroy of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Ryan, Reed, Bryan, Kyle and Lauren; brother Rev. Robert Hollett and wife Pat of Chestertown, MD; and sister Ann Munro of Southbury, CT. Bill was predeceased by his daughter Wendy Hollett, and his brothers Norman Hollett and Richard Hollett.

Bill was born on Long Island to parents Norman Hollett and Elizabeth Titus Hollett. He graduated from Marietta College and then served in the Army from 1953 through 1955. During a long and prolific career which progressed from Buffalo to Indianapolis, to Connecticut, Chicago and back to Connecticut, Bill worked at Union Carbide (Linde),
JC Penney, Baxter Travenol, and Drake Beam Morin, finally retiring as a management and business consultant specializing in Organizational Restructuring with Thomson Reuters of Stamford, CT.

Bill had a long and profound love for the family cabin in Maine, where he could immediately relax and enjoy the mountains and lake. He also had a lifelong love for music, and was a dedicated choir member at Christ Church in Redding, and Emmanuel in Weston. Bill was also a member and past president of the New Oratorio Singers in Barrington, Illinois.

Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church, 184 Cross Highway, Redding Ridge, CT 06876 at 11am June 26. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christ Church Organ Building Fund, or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 161 West Church Street, Seymour, CT.
