Remembering Helen Jane Yolinski

My mother, Helen, born in 1921, was an attractive blue-eyed blond. She was extremely smart (at times had radar) and a multi-talented artist, who inspired me to paint. She was one of eight children born to a struggling farm family from Ansonia, growing up in the Great Depression.  At 17 years old she married and by the time she was 33 had six children. She was 44 years old when the addition of two step-daughters was added to the family.

She witnessed in her lifetime; The Great Depression (1929-39), Charles Lindbergh flies the Atlantic solo 1927, Hitler and World War II, First Man in Space 1961, Armstrong Sets Foot on the Moon 1969, etc.

Mom made the Best “Blueberry cobbler”, not to mention what she was able to do with a pressure cooker. I will always remember her laughter and she will be missed. Luanne
