Obituary for Richard Burns

SYRACUSE, NY, and NEW HAVEN, CT: Richard Burns, age 82 of Stratford Street, entered into rest November 4, 2002 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse. He is survived by a brother Theodore Burns and his wife Ada of East Haven, CT, one nephew William R. Burns and his wife Cindy along with their children, Michael and Kerry all of Oxford, CT. Richard was born in New Haven, CT on February 10, 1920, son of the late William H. and Anna (Flaherty) Burns. His brother William J. Burns predeceased him. Richard was a graduate of Hillhouse High School, and also from Yale University Class of 1942. Mr. Burns was the owner of Overtone Record Company, New Haven for several years before moving New York as Audio Engineer of Syracuse University, School of music; at the same time he was part owner and President of Packburn Audio Noise Suppresor which he ran until the time of his death. He retired from Syracuse University in 1984.
SERVICES: (Local) Family and friends may call at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following in St. Augustine’s Church, 35 Washington Ave., Seymour. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. West Haven. (New York) A memorial service will be held in Crouse Concert Hall on the Syracuse University Campus, Sunday January 12, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be sent to Belfer Audio Lab.
