Obituary for Clarence "Zeke" DeGeorge Jr.

Clarence "Zeke"  DeGeorge Jr.
Mr. Clarence “Zeke” DeGeorge, Sr. age 79, of Naugatuck beloved husband of the late Marietta (Griffith) DeGeorge, died on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.

He was born on December 12, 1930 in New Haven to the late Clarence DeGeorge, Sr. and the late Florine (Wheeler) DeGeorge and was a longtime resident of Seymour before moving to Naugatuck. Mr. DeGeorge was a test inspector for Kerite Co. in Seymour for over 40 years before his retirement. He served with the U. S. Naval Reserve. In 1949 He played basketball for a semi-pro team called “The Top Hatters.” Mr. DeGeorge was a past Fire Chief with the Oxford Center Fire Department and a past president of the Oxford Volunteer Fireman’s Association.

He is survived by four devoted children, Paul N. DeGeorge and his wife Helen of Beacon Falls, David J. DeGeorge and his wife Karen of Naugatuck, Lisa J. DeGeorge of Naugatuck and Marietta Yocher and her husband Christopher of Ansonia. He also leaves a sister, Mildred Sholtys of Ansonia, five grandsons and three granddaughters and two great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday, Dec. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Interment will be held in private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
