Obituary for Clarence Leo Hubbell

Clarence Leo Hubbell – 87 – Waterbury, formerly of Oxford, entered eternal peace on October 14, 2010. He was predeceased by his loving wife Harriett (Seeley) and brothers Walt & Everett. He is survived by his children; Wayne, Laurie Larson, Jeff, grandchildren; Scott, Brian, Paige, Quinn and great grandchildren; Mathew and Noah.
He was educated in Oxford Center and Seymour High Schools.
A Decorated WWII veteran, he served in the United States Army Air Corp, obtaining a rank of Staff Sergeant, he was deployed in the European Theater of Operations as a gunner on a B-24 Liberator flying 31 missions, for one of which he received the Distinguished Flying Cross for actions pivotal in saving the entire crew.
He worked as a mechanic for Sikorsky Aircraft, as a senior estimator for B.F Goodrich for over 30 years and in semi retirement as a banquet bartender for Sheraton Hotels.
He was a Deacon for the Oxford Congregational Church, a Member of the Oxford Zoning Board, a Past President of the Oxford Lions Club and a 27 year Friend of Bill W. from which he had many cherished friendships.
His family would like to thank the staff of VNA/Hospice for there help and support during this difficult time and request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the VNA/Hospice in his memory. Calling hours will be Monday the 25th from10:00 to noon with services to follow at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 161 West Church St. Seymour.
