Seymour - Tina Hush departed this earthly plain on February 11, 2008 at Vestal, NY. She was born in Ansonia, on March 5, 1915 as Congetta Frances Gurrieri, however she was always known as Tina. Her parents were Salvatore (Sam) Gurrieri and Grazzia (Grace) Raimonde. She married Peter Kushpinsky, who died in 1997. In 1947 the family name was legally changed to Hush, and Tina became Constance Frances Hush. Tina and Peter had two sons; Bill and Ray. As a family they lived in Ansonia, Derby, and then Seymour. Son Bill lives with wife Barbara in Apalachin, NY. Son Ray and wife Grace make their home in Silverton, Oregon. Tina was predeceased by brothers (sisters-in-law) Phil (Rose) and Angelo (Fannie), and brother-in-law Bob Donofrio. She is survived by sister Kay who resides in Pensacola, Florida. Tina’s grandchildren are William Hush Jr, Brett (Terri) Hush, Linda (Matt) Loomis, Gary Hush, and Mark (Elaine) Hush. Her great grandchildren are William Hush III, Melissa Hush, Matthew Hush, Zella Rose Hush, Emelia Hush, Jake Hush and Loomis triplets Thisby, Elizabeth, and Violette. Her surviving nephews are Robert (Durlyn) Donofrio, Patrick (Judy) Gurrieri, Philip Gurrieri, Harry (Linda) Kushpinsky, and Ronnie Kushpinsky. She was predeceased by nephew Freddie Kushpinsky. Her nieces are: Marianna (Richard) Toni, Grace Burke, Diane (Bob) Joyce, and Kathy Brewer. As a young woman Tina assisted her magician husband in on-stage performances. Tina retired from Griffin Hospital where she was Laundry Supervisor. Tina was quick to make friends and people took an instant liking to her. Until her early 80’s she was known for a phenomenal memory, remembering dates of all family births, deaths, anniversaries, and other events. This also served her well in playing her favorite card game of pinochle. Unfortunately her memory faded in her late 80’s with the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. In 1998 Tina moved from Seymour to Vestal, NY, to be near the home of her son Bill.
The family will receive friends at the Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour, Friday, Feb 22, from 5 to 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Feb 23, 9:15 am from the Hull Funeral Home, followed by a 10 am Funeral Mass at St. Augustine Church, 35 Washington Avenue, Seymour.
