NAUGATUCK and WOODBRIDGE, CT: Emelie C. "Klare" Heavens, age 86 of Naugatuck, and a former longtime Woodbridge resident entered peaceful rest January 24, 2014 at the Waterbury Hospital; she was the beloved wife of the late Robert H. Heavens. Mrs. Heavens was born July 8, 1927 in New Haven, daughter of the late George and Cresencia (George) Kain. She was retired from the former Woodbridge Bank. Klare was a member of the First Congregational Church, Cheshire and the United Church on the Green, New Haven; she was an accomplished soloist having studied in New York City; she sang with the New Haven Chorale, and in several off-Broadway theater productions.

Emelie leaves her loving family including her children, Glenn Heavens of Naugatuck, Robert Heavens, Jr. of Cheshire, and Jill Heavens of North Branford; her grandchildren, April Woodcock, Glenn Heavens, Jr., and Cristen Heavens, and 6 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Klare's life will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the First Congregational Church, 111 Church Dr., Cheshire, 06410.
