Obituary for Emma Donnelly

SHELTON, CT, and RYE BROOK, NY: Emma H. Donnelly, age 92 who was residing at the Bishop Wicke Health Center, formerly of Avon Circle, Rye Brook, NY, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2003 at the health center after a long illness; she was the beloved wife of the late John J. Donnelly, who died in 1993.
Emma was born February 16, 1911 in Shelton, daughter of the late Ernest and Anna (Mickles) Horney. She was a graduate of the Class of 1930 from Seymour High School, Seymour, CT, and from United Hospital School of Nursing, Port Chester, NY in 1933. She worked for many years at United Hospital as Assistant Head Nurse in Pediatrics; Head Nurse in the Nursery, and Head Nurse in the Emergency Room. In her retirement, Emma volunteered for many years at the hospital’s Recovery room. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Port Chester, NY, and where she also served as a Deacon.
Emma is survived by a nephew Edward Harney of Southbury, CT, a niece, Elinor Schiavi of Seymour, CT, grand nieces Susan Schiavi, Tamara Wasko, and Elizabeth Hanna.
A memorial service in celebration of Emma’s life will be held December 12, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Great Hill United Methodist Church, 225 Great Hill Road, Seymour, CT. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Great Hill Cemetery, Seymour. Memorial gifts may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of CTVNA, 680 Bridgeport Avenue 3rd Floor, Shelton, CT 06483. The Ralph E.
