OXFORD, CT: Frederick D. “Fred” Schiavi, Jr. age 88 a lifelong Oxford resident, entered into peaceful rest on November 6, 2019 at his home with his devoted family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Agnes (Tetlak) Schiavi. Mr. Schiavi was born June 25, 1931, son of the late Fred and Anna (Federowicz) Schiavi. He was retired from the Northeast Utilities Co., and had formerly done construction work, and water well drilling, earlier on with the S.B. Church Co. of Oxford, and later he formed his own well drilling company which he did for several years. He was a volunteer firefighter, and lifetime member of the Quaker Farms Company. Fred could often be seen in his golf cart making his way around his property. Mr. Schiavi will be fondly remembered as being generous and , knowledgeable; he enjoyed farming and he loved animals, mechanics and woodworking; his door was always open to others in need. He was happy and proud that the land he loved was created in to a park and named for his loving wife Agnes.

Frederick leaves his loving family including his son, Frederick D. Schiavi, III (Kelly) of Oxford, his daughter, Lisa Hellauer (Edwin) of Oxford, his brother, Donald Schiavi (Elinor) of Seymour; his grandchildren, Lindsey Grailich (Tyler), Christie Hellauer, Jake Schiavi, and Kassidy Schiavi all of Oxford; a great granddaughter Aubrey Grailich of Oxford, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. His sister Hazel Happy and half brother, Henry Federowicz predeceased him.

I worked with Fred at Devon Station back in the early 80’s. He always had a smile and loved to laugh. I don’t remember him letting the long outage hours get to him. May he rest in peace.
