Life Story for Helen Elizabeth Egan (Kotch)

Helen Elizabeth  Egan (Kotch)
SEYMOUR: Mrs. Helen Elizabeth (Kotch) Egan, age 95, beloved wife of the late Joseph David Egan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 in Shady Knoll Health Care. She was born on June 17, 1914 in Shelton to the late Joseph and Mary (Kment) Kotch. Mrs. Egan worked with the American Red Cross during World War II and then went to work at the former BF Goodrich in Shelton for a number of years. She received her licensed practical nursing degree from the Hospital of Saint Raphael. She worked for a few years at Griffin Hospital as an LPN and continued her career at the former Long Hill Nursing Home in Shelton until her retirement. Mrs. Egan was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed oil painting and enjoyed trips to the casino. Mrs. Egan was a communicant of St. Augustine Church and a member of the League of the Sacred Heart. Mrs. Egan was the loving mother of three devoted children, David Egan and his wife Susan of Hawley, PA, Helen Ann Henry of Wethersfield and Margaret Wysocki and her husband Richard of Ansonia. She also leaves ten grandchildren, Robert A (Joni Lynn) Henry, Michael P. (Brenda) Henry, Todd C. Henry, Brian J. (Jane) Henry, David M. (Donna) Wysocki, Richard M. (Lori) Wysocki, Carol L. (Don) Mastersanti, Michelle (Robert) Yarasavich, Adrienne Protska and Jennifer (Lucas) Protska, fourteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her son in law, Robert J. Henry and three brothers, Joseph, William, and Harry Kotch and two sisters, Mary Gerchy and Mildred Weslocky predeceased her. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 161 West Church Street, Seymour followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church, Seymour. Interment in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, 1579 Straits Turnpike, Unit C, Middlebury, CT 06762 or Shady Knoll Health Center, Recreation Department, 43 Skokorat, Seymour, CT 06483.
