Life Story for John Potosky

SEYMOUR, CT: John Potosky, age 93 of Seymour entered into peaceful rest December 30, 2009 at the Griffin Hospital, Derby; he was the beloved husband of the late Jeanne (Volkmar) Potosky. Mr. Potosky was born May 29, 1916 in Seymour, son of the late Paul and Mary (Dziadik) Potosky. John was a retired Postal Clerk from the Seymour Post Office. He was a WW II U.S. Army National Guard Veteran and had served with the First 102nd Infantry in the Pacific Theater of Operations. John was a lifelong Seymour resident and a Life Member of the Seymour Fish and Game Club where he was the Grounds Chairman for many years. Mr. Potosky was a volunteer Firefighter with the Citizens Engine Co. No.2 where he formerly held the office of Engineer. John leaves his loving family including a son, Jay Potosky and his wife Megan of Torrington, two daughters, Paula Shelton and her husband George, and Patricia Lique and her husband Philip all of Seymour, his brother, Joseph Potosky and his wife Mary Lou of Seymour, six grandchildren, Jody, Christopher, and Brian Potosky, Philip Lique, Janine and Jocelyn Shelton and his daughter in law, Valerie Potosky of West Haven. His son, David, seven brothers and sisters, William Potosky, Mary Paskevich, Dorothy Rebner, Ann Soresino, Julia Mis, Lillian Horbal and Stella Krajnik predeceased him. A Funeral Service in celebration of John’s life will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Interment with full Military Honors will take place in the spring in Trinity Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home also on Sunday prior to the service from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Team, Inc.
