Obituary for Mary A. Kostka

SEYMOUR, CT: Mary A. Kostka, age 74 of Colony road, entered into peaceful rest March 2, 2005 at her home, she was the faithful wife of Raymond S. Kostka, Sr. for fifty three and a half years. She was born February 21, 1931 in Derby, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Johnson) Anderson. Mary was a devoted mother, and a superb example to follow for her five children, Karen A. Rempel of the Dales, OR, Raymond S. Kostka, Jr. of Oxford, Kathy L. Sembrowich of Naugatuck, Richard C. Kostka, of Naugatuck, and Maryanne R. Tkacz of Oxford. Mary loved her family and continuously set only the finest example for them to follow. She was a very active parishioner of the Seymour Congregational Church, where she served as their former secretary; additionally Mary was involved in the church’s Annual Christmas Fair, the Women’s Fellowship Committee, the Deaconate, the Easter Pierogi Sales Committee, as well as the Finance, Property, and Renovations Committees. Mrs. Kostka was additionally retired from the former Chamberlain’s Express Company of Seymour, and the former Butterfield Manufacturing Company in Naugatuck. Mary’s other interests include camping, fishing, quilting, reading, and numerous cross-country trips she took with her family.
In addition to her loving husband and five children, Mary leaves nine wonderful grandchildren, five nieces, and five nephews. Her sister Esther Harrigan, and three brothers, Henry Anderson, Robert Anderson, and Frank Anderson all predeceased her.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour, to Seymour Congregational Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Southford Cemetery, Oxford.
