Life Story for Mary "Ann" Kowalsky (Buhuniak)

Mary "Ann"  Kowalsky (Buhuniak)
Mary (“Ann”) Behuniak Kowalsky, age 86, of Oxford, beloved wife of the late Stanley (“Doc”) Kowalsky, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010.

Mary was born in Seymour on August 5, 1923, daughter of the late Anthony Behuniak and Clara Hodio Behuniak. She was a resident of Oxford for close to 55 years and a member of the Oxford Davis S. Miles Unit 174 American Legion Auxiliary and Senior Citizens. She worked for Chance Vought Aircraft and U.S Rubber Company.

In the early years Mary and her husband went fishing and camping with family in upstate New York and Canada and their summer cottage in Maine for many years.

She enjoyed cooking, especially pierogies for family and friends. She loved animals, especially cats. She kept the songbirds and all the wild animals in her back yard well fed and happy. She also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, painting, board games, scrabble, reading, arts and crafts, crocheting and knitting. She enjoyed her friends at the Oxford Senior Center and will be long remembered for her overwhelming generosity to others and her special loving relationship she shared with her family and friends.

She is survived by her two devoted children Sandra Masciullo and her husband Louis of Waterbury, CT and Claudia Andrews of Naples, Florida and one brother, Stanley Behuniak and numerous neices, nephews, grand children and great grandchildren including Dan & Karen Masciullo and their two children Thomas & Molly of Illinois, Loretta Masciullo & Nick Merriman and their two Andrew Merriman and Page Hamann of Montana, and Todd Masciullo of Hawaii.

She is predeceased by her sister, Julia Behuniak, and three brothers, Samuel Behuniak, Joe Behuniak, and John Behuniak Sr.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 23 at 10 a.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 161 West Church Street, Seymour, CT. Interment to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m..
