Obituary for Paul Filipowich, Filipowich, Jr.

SEYMOUR, CT: Paul Filipowich, Jr. age 83 of Patton Avenue entered into rest February 25, 2002 at the Griffin Hospital, Derby. He was the beloved husband of Gloria Cavazuti Filipowich.
Mr. Filipowich was born June 14, 1918 in Hartford, CT, son of the late Paul and Tatiana Kruke Filipowich. He was a retired Certified Public Accountant, and founder of Paul Filipowich and Co. P.C. that he began in 1970 retiring in 1998. Paul was a WW II US Army Veteran with the rank of Captain, serving in the European Theater of Operations as a medic, including the Battle of the Bulge. Following the war Paul served as an instructor with the Army Reserves, and retired with the rank of Major. He was a communicant of Three Saints Russian Orthodox Church, Ansonia, where he actively served on several committees. Mr. Filipowich was active in many civic affairs in Town of Seymour including Town Treasurer for two administrations, a member of the Emil Senger, Post 10 American Legion, the Seymour VFW, the Morning Star Lodge #47 AF and AM, and was a member of the Connecticut Society of CPAs Paul was a lifelong Seymour resident, and a graduate of Bryant College with a degree in accounting. Prior to founding the family firm Paul was employed by the AVCO Corp., Stratford.
Besides his wife he leaves his loving family including: 3 sons, Paul Filipowich, III and his wife Diana of Oxford, Robert Filipowich and his wife Susan of Fairfield, and James Filipowich and his wife Cynthia of Shelton. 1 daughter, Laura Mazzarella and her husband Anthony of Columbia, MD. 2 brothers, Nicholas Filipowich of Ansonia, and Alex Filipowich of Orange. Also 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His sister Jennie Filipowich predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:00 a.m. from the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour to Three Saints Church for a service at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will be in Three Saints Cemetery, Seymour.
