Obituary for Paul McKane

Paul Archer McKane, age 52 of Country Club Drive entered into peaceful rest October 23, 2003 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Mr. McKane was born July 19, 1951 in Derby, beloved son of Charles and Edith (Rollinson) McKane of Oxford. He was a Seymour resident for the past eleven years, formerly of Oxford and Beacon Falls. Paul was a retired computer programmer with the Cigna Corporation, and was a member of the Great Hill United Methodist Church. Mr. McKane was a member of the Connecticut Spoke Benders wheelchair basketball team for over twenty years; he was very knowledgeable about sports statistics, particularly with baseball, and the New York Yankees. Paul coached softball in the men’s modified league in Southbury. Mr. McKane was noted for confronting adversity with humor and strength, and he was well known for his generosity and passion for helping others.
Besides his parents Paul leaves his loving family including a son, Michael Ames of Danbury, a daughter Angela Ames of Beacon Falls, a brother, David McKane and his wife Linda of Oxford, a sister, Margaret McKane and her husband David Bates of Framingham, MA, and three nieces, Kellie McKane, who was also Paul’s god-daughter, Katie McKane, and Sarah McKane all of Oxford. His brother Peter Hall McKane predeceased him.
Funeral services will be Monday in the Great Hill United Methodist Church, 225 Great Hill Rd., Seymour, CT 06483 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Great Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Peter Hall McKane Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o the Great Hill United Methodist Church.
