Obituary for Raymond Craig Richter

WATERBURY, CT: Raymond Craig "Ray" Richter, age 51 of Waterbury entered into peaceful rest October 12, 2008 at his home with his beloved partner of more than thirty one years Barry L. Caouette by his side; a partnership they shared since June 26, 1977. Raymond was born July 15, 1957 in New Haven loving son of George, Sr., and Grace (Densmore) Richter of Uncasville. He graduated from Seymour High School and also the American Academy, McAllister Institute, New York, NY. Mr. Richter formerly resided on Cape Cod, MA, and Key West, FL. Ray was a caring Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer with the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, Seymour for many years and held his license since 1977. He enjoyed renovating houses in Connecticut and Florida; gardening and long walks, especially along the beaches of Cape Cod, and Key West with Barry by his side. Ray will be fondly remembered for his concern for others and his wonderful smile.
In addition to his partner and parents, Ray leaves his loving family including, a son, William Caouette and his wife Erin of Plantsville, his brother, George, Jr., and his wife Susan whom Ray considered not just a sister-in-law but rather a loving friend, his cherished granddaughter, Abby Mae Caouette, three nephews, George Richter, III, Matthew Richter, and Timothy Richter, also his special friends, Mike and Roni LaChappelle of Voluntown, Joey Schroeder, Darlene and Mike Cullen, all of Key West, FL, and his other sister-in-law, Sue Mitnick of Waterbury, and his friends and colleagues at Hull Funeral Home. Ray will now be rejoined with his dear sister Sharon Richter whom predeceased him.
A funeral service in celebration of Raymond’s life will be held Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (casual dress per Ray’s request) in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home also on Wednesday prior to the service from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
