Obituary for Stephen O'Dell

SOUTHBURY, CT: Stephen D. O’Dell, age 61 of Jeremy Swamp Road, entered into peaceful rest November 25, 2003 at the Griffin Hospital, Derby with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Roberta (MacDonald) O’Dell. Mr. O’Dell was born November 7, 1942 in Derby, beloved son of Muriel (Bryant) O’Dell of Seymour, and the late Alton O’Dell. Stephen resided in Southbury for the past thirty five years, and was employed there as supervisor of the Transfer Station. He was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Oxford, and had served in the Army National Guard for six years, and was a lifetime firefighter with the Southbury fire department. Stephen was an avid horseman, outdoorsman; he loved to adopt wild mustang horses, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and motorcycling, but mostly Stephen will be remembered as a devoted family-man.
Besides his wife and mother Stephen leaves his loving family including two sons, Scott O’Dell of Southbury, and Michael O’Dell and his wife Lesley of Beacon Falls, two daughters, Christine Troia and her husband Daniel of Oxford, and Cynthia O’Dell-Markus and her husband Joe of Waterbury, a brother, Richard O’Dell and his wife Sue of New Milford, four cherished grandchildren, Aaron and Lauren Troia of Oxford, and Cheryl Johnson and Michael Markus of Waterbury, also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour, to St Thomas the Apostle Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour.
