Obituary for Thomas E. Konnik

SEYMOUR, CT: Thomas E. Konnik, 78 of Seymour died peacefully May 13th at home surrounded by his loving family; he was the beloved husband of Sharon (Haversat) Konnik. Mr. Konnik was born September 22, 1929 in Throop, PA son of the late Alex and Margaret (Macknofski) Konikowski; he was a longtime resident of Seymour. Thomas was a decorated veteran of the Korean War having received a medal with three Bronze Service Stars. He was a graduate of Seymour High school and was employed at Shelton Roofing for thirty six years before retiring. Tom was a member of the Emil Senger Post 10 American Legion, Seymour, the Seymour Land Trust, Seymour Men’s Golf Association, and was a communicant of St. Augustine Church. He was an avid gardener who took great pride in his landscaping. In his younger days Tom enjoyed fishing, golf, skiing, and tennis. Later on he developed a zest for cooking, reading and was a huge fan of the UCONN Huskies. Tom will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his kindness and generosity to others.
In addition to his loving wife, Sharon, Tom leaves his son Todd Konnik and his wife Denise of Middlebury, his daughter, Traci Szwed and her husband Michael of Des Plaines, IL, a sister, Helen Behuniak of Seymour, and several nieces and nephews. His brothers Edward Konnik, Frank Konikowski, and Alexander Konikowski predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour to St. Augustine Church, 35 Washington Avenue where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment with full Military Honors will be in St. Augustine Cemetery. Family and friends may call Wednesday (TODAY) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to the Seymour Land Trust, 13 Chatfield St., Seymour, CT 06483.
