SHELTON: Mr. Thomas Schmitz, age 74, beloved husband of 50 years to Marian Haines Schmitz of Shelton, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2009 in St. Joseph’s Manor, Trumbull. Mr. Schmitz was born on April 16, 1934 in New Haven to the late Herman and Elizabeth (O’Connor) Schmitz. He worked in sales for business equipment for many years before his retirement. Mr. Schmitz also a U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoyed being involved with The Scrabble Association. In addition to his devoted wife, he leaves two daughters, Janet Kertesz and her husband James of Trumbull and Patricia Drzal and her husband Frank of Trumbull, five grandchildren, Michael, Daniel and Katie Drzal, Jonathan Schmitz and Courtney Kertesz and his brother, Theodore Schmitz of New Mexico. His daughter, Susan Schmitz predeceased him. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. Memorial contributions may be made to the Traci L.
