Virginia “Jinny” Ruth Salvesen, 91, of Oxford CT, beloved wife for 67 years to the late Ralph A. Salvesen, entered into eternal peace on Friday, January 17, 2014 at The Hearth in Southbury, CT.
Jinny was born on July 19, 1922 in Staten Island, NY and was the daughter of Harold and Veronica (Jones) Brundage. Jinny also resided in Pearl River NY, Marshall MO, East Brunswick NJ, Dade City FL and Southampton NJ. She was a homemaker for many years and worked in the office for Raritan Newspaper after her children were grown. Jinny’s passion for quilting and sewing resulted in many amazing quilts, wall hangings, table runners and other keepsakes for family members and others to treasure. As avid Airstreamers, their love of travel brought her and Ralph to many areas and events throughout the U.S and Canada.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and nana, Jinny is survived by six children: Lynn Wirth (David) Hillsborough NJ, Roger (Patricia) Buckeye AZ, Donald (Melanie) Rio Rancho NM, James (Nadine) Ridgefield CT, Joan Rickle (Layne) Gastonia NC and Tricia Van Buiten (Chris) Oxford CT. Other survivors are brothers Harold Brundage Palermo ME and David Brundage (MaryAnn) Lakeland FL, brother-in-law Clifford Salvesen Kutztown PA and sister-in-law Alice Salvesen Scotch Plains NJ and many nieces and nephews.
