Obituary for William J. Fassbender, Jr.

OXFORD, CT: William J. Fassbender, Jr., age 77 of Laura Lane, entered into rest February 26, 2002 at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy Redshaw Fassbender.
Mr. Fassbender was born December 31, 1924 in Ansonia, son of the late William J., Sr., and Margaret Buswell Fassbender. Bill resided in Oxford for the past 3 years, formerly of 18 Bunting Road, Seymour from 1953 to 1999, and prior to that he lived in Ansonia. He was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church, Seymour. Mr. Fassbender was a decorated WW II US Navy Veteran; he served with the Naval Air Force aboard a Navy PBM Flying Boat as an air spotter, and a bombardier. He served in the Pacific Theater of Operations, and was a two-time recipient of the Navy Air Medal. Bill was a retired central office technician with the Southern New England Telephone Co., New Haven where he retired in 1983 after 35 years service. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Bill was a former firefighter with the Citizens Engine Co., No.2, and was a former superintendent of fire alarms for the Town of Seymour. Bill was also a former employee of Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home.
He leaves his loving family including: 1 son William J. Fassbender, III and hi wife Lori of Oxford. 1 daughter Jan Budetti and her husband Richard of Reno, NV. 1 brother, Thomas Fassbender of Bethany. 3 grandchildren Christian Drummer of Seymour, William J. Fassbender, IV of Oxford, and Richard Budetti, Jr. of Reno, NV. He also leaves his beloved companion, Marie Brown of Shelton.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour, to Trinity Episcopal Church where a Requiem Eucharist will be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be sent to the C.H. F.
