Dear Janette: I was deeply saddened to learn of Bernie’s death and on behalf of Robyn and myself, would like to express our deepest sympathy to you and your family. It was so unexpected, which makes it even harder on those of us who share your grief. Bernie was highly respected by managers and employees alike throughout the entire Yale community. I regarded Bernie as a visionary as did anyone who ever worked with him. Bernie’s contributions, especially to RIS, during his many years of dedicated and selfless service were many and varied. He was a major part of the extensive technological expansion across the department. Believe me, his contributions to RIS and Yale will not be forgotten. Please accept our heartfelt condolences to you and your children. Bernie was a remarkable guy. Knowing him personally as I did for many years, I am well aware of the difference he made in the lives of many people, both at RIS and in his private life. We will miss him terribly.
