Condolence: I first learned of Gene's illness a few weeks ago. Gene and I are cousins and shared many happy family get-togethers throughout the years. I have been in Florida for the past 15 years, so we didn't get to see each other very often, but kept in touch via the computer. I am unable to be there to say a final goodbye, but I share his family's sorrow.

Condolence: Dear Sharon,

I am sorry for your loss. Please forward my condolences to your family during this difficult time.

Your strength and endurance throughout this process have been admirable, and the time has come for you all to begin healing. Your father is resting peacefully now, and I am sure that your courage and devotion helped to ease the grief of your family.
If there is anything I can do, please let me know. My thoughts are with all of you.

Condolence: I worked closely with Gene as a young man just out of the Army from 1984 through 1988. His guidance and professionalism as well as his sense of humor and friendship helped me get my first real start in life. I last had the chance to see Gene in 1998 while on a short trip to the Northeast. My sincerest condolences go out to his family and the community that he cared about so much.

Condolence: Gene and my mother are first cousins and when they were younger, they were very close. She told me how they wrote to each other when he was in the U.S. Air Force.

I got to know Gene more while working at Sikorsky Aircraft. I would see him in the hallway and we would talk and get caught up on the family. Or when he needed to get someone on the computer, he would come down to see me and say " Hi cousin." I always enjoyed seeing him.

Just last year I was taking a class where I had to write a paper on my family ancestry and Gene was kind enough to fill me in on his side of
the family. You see his grandmother was my great-grandmother. He gave me so much information on his grandfather and father. His story was so interesting, it really helped me to understand how difficult life was for immigrants back then and the sacrifices they had to make.

The last time I really talked to him was last November after I was laid off and then came back as a contractor. I went to his office and we sat and talked more about the family, past and present. We had a really nice visit. Right after that I was moved to the Bridgeport plant and did not have a chance to see him.

I was so shocked when Aunt Daisy called me and told me that he was in the hospital with cancer. It all seemed to happened so fast. He was a wonderful person and I am so glad that I got to know him and I am thankful for the talks we shared. Gene will be deeply missed.
