Obituary for Marie C. Tkacz (Capone)

Marie C.  Tkacz (Capone)
SEYMOUR, CT: Marie C. Tkacz, age 68 of Seymour entered into peaceful rest December 13, 2010 at her home in the arms of her loving husband of 46 years, Thomas M. Tkacz. She was the perfect wife to Thomas M. Tkacz. Marie was born October 8, 1942 in White Plains, NY, daughter of the late Luigi and Antoinette (Esposito) Capone. Mrs. Tkacz retired from the former Seymour Lumber Company, and also previously worked at the former Seymour Trust Company. She was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild, the Seymour-Oxford Food Bank, and was a member and an officer of the ECW. Marie moved from White Plains to Seymour in 1955 and became very active in the community including, George J. Hummel Little League and the Sugar Shack at Casagrande Field. Marie was a volunteer with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), following the death of her son in 2004 Marie became actively involved with the AFSP. Marie led her family in raising over sixty thousand dollars for the cause and participated each year in the AFSP “overnight walks”. She additionally was a facilitator with the local chapter of Survivors of Suicide. Marie enjoyed travelling throughout the United States and abroad.

In addition to her husband Marie leaves her loving family including three daughters, Katerina Cavanagh and her husband Robert of Woodbridge, Tamara Tkacz of West Haven, and her finace' Darrin Amendola, and Wendy Mignot and her husband Jean-Noel of Santa Rosa, FL, her sister, Barbara Hula and her husband John of Beaverton, OR, and seven grandchildren, Frankie and Michael Cavanagh, Violeta and Zachery Mignot, and Thomas, Bradley, and Colby Tkacz. Her son Thomas M. Tkacz predeceased her.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:00 a.m. from the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour to Trinity Episcopal Church, 91 Church Street, where a Service of Requiem Eucharist will be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Mountain Meadows Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to AFSP Team 435 (Overnight), 120 Wall St. 22nd Floor, New York, NY 10005.
