Condolences

Condolence From: Sylvia Sauermann Aulenti
Condolence: I'm the niece of Elizabeth Heavens, Uncle Bill's wife, and a lifetime friend of Patti and Howard. Uncle Bill told me the story of how he reminded his mother that she would have to give him a Halloween treat or he'd play a trick on her. He kept it up all through October. On the day before Halloween, he came in from playing and she told him to go look in her room, there was a treat for him. He went into her room and there was a baby in a little bed. She told him, "That's your brother Norman. How do you like your treat?" He was very happy with his treat and told the whole neighborhood that he got a little brother for Halloween.
May you all have peace at this time.

Condolence: Although we had seen less and less of each other through the years my childhood memories of our times together will be cherished. From your poker nights at our house to our family picnics and trying to figure out those puzzles on those Ballantine Ale bottle caps. They are just a couple of memories of many that stand out. Rest in peace Uncle Norm. Say hello to Aunt Dot and my Mom!

Condolence: Uncle Norm was working at Griffin Hospital, second shift, back in January 1978, when my father was nearing his end. Dad had slipped into a coma, but we knew time was short and we came to see him. When we arrived, Uncle Norm was standing at the door, with his mop and pail, watching my father, with tears streaming down his face. Just then, the phone rang, and my father opened his eyes reflexively, still in a coma. "Well, answer it," Uncle Norm said to Dad, and we all laughed. The last time I spent any time with him was at his house after my grandfather's memorial service in January 1980. As is typical with men in this family, we both dozed off on the couch watching TV. He was a good man, he worked hard, he was good to his family and others, and everyone loved him, and you can't ask for much more of life.
