Obituary for Peter "Pete" Beecher III

BEACON FALLS, CT: Peter "Pete" Beecher, III age 71 of Beacon Falls went home to the Lord May 30th at his home following a courageous battle with Lewy Body Disease with his loving and devoted family by his side; he was the beloved husband of forty three years to Betty (Andrews) Beecher. Pete was born September 29, 1936 in New Milford, CT beloved son of the late Peter, Jr. and Jessie Kidd (Thompson) Beecher, also beloved son-in-law to the late Warren and Alta (Wahlers) Andrews. Pete was a resident of Ansonia before moving to Beacon Falls thirty-four years ago. He graduated from Ansonia Pine High School and from the Warren Institute of Technology. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Pete retired in 1995 from Sikorsky Aircraft, Stratford where he was a Flight Operations Supervisor, and was entrusted with the Presidential Helicopters for the terms of Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon. Additionally, Peter did extensive training for Sikorsky’s on the USS Enchon, and had served as Flight Operations Trainer to the Nicaraguan Helicopter Corps. Pete was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church, Seymour, where he was a former Junior Warden and Vestryman; he and his wife were both Chalice Bearers there, and were founders of their Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Also he coordinated the churches Hot Meal Ministry for the homeless and was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 1988 by Act/ Spooner House. Pete was a former assistant teacher with his daughter Christie at Trinity Community Pre-School, Woodbridge. Both he and his wife Betty were Team Presenters with Marriage Encounter.
In addition to his beloved wife Betty, Pete leaves his loving family including his son Shawn Peter and wife Kristin of Naugatuck, three daughters, Beth Lee Philbrook and her husband Christopher of Plymouth, Christie-Lynn Beaton and her husband David of Ansonia, and Jessica-Joy Murray and her husband Patrick of Beacon Falls. Pete was the proud granddad of Nathan Aaron and Heather Alta Philbrook, Seth David and Adam Isaiah Beaton, and Megan Joy Murray; his 6th grandchild is expected in October to Shawn and Kristin. He also leaves two brothers, Alexander Beecher of Shelton and James Beecher of Southbury, and a sister Jo Ann Duskin in South Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
A service of Requiem Eucharist will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 91 Church Street, Seymour. Interment with full Military Honors will be in Trinity Cemetery. Family and friends may call Monday at the Ralph E.
