Rocky Zotto

To the Sahni Family, I got acquainted with Roger when he started to work in my department at IBM back in 1996. Our acqaintance soon turned to friendship; his witty character and love of life attitude made him an easy mark for anyone to enjoy his company. He was proud to tell me that he was a two time cancer survivor and I was in awe of his courage throughout the process that he explained to me. But those thoughts paled what I actually come to know of last round of treatment that he kept me informed of after his December 2000 diagnosis. I never got the chance to tell Roger how spending that little time with him has significantly changed my life. He has been nothing less than inspiration to me; when I'd get down by annoyances in life I'd think of what Roger told me one day. He said Rock "yesterday I didn't have the energy to get out of bed so don't tell me how touch things are for you". The following week I was working on my yard which was totally desecreted by grubs, I was rolling up my beautiful lawn like a rug, my wife Kim comes out and is staring at me, I'm covered in mud and sweat, she asked me if I'm ok, I look up and say to her "Kim, it is just freggin grass!" I knew that I had finally "stopped sweating the little things in life" and realized how lucky I was. I knew that a change had come over my life right then. I'm sorry to be so long-winded on this but it is a story that I wanted to tell Roger but never had the chance. Laurie, Oma, Rachel, Danielle; my deepest sympathy goes out to all of you but take comfort in knowing that you knew this great man better than any of us and in all of our hearts he will continue to live. Sincerely, Rocky Zotto
