William F. Schmitt, age 58, beloved husband of 35 years to Nancy (Pranulis) of Oxford, entered into peaceful rest on January 6, 2014 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. He was born on July 1, 1955 in New York City and was the son of William J. Schmitt of Ridgefield, CT and the late Janet (Hurley) Schmitt. Mr. Schmitt worked in Computer Technology. Over the past few years, he was active with his children’s Scouting Programs with technology support. Leveraging his passion for genealogy, he has spent countless hours compiling a comprehensive, extended family history. In addition to his wife and father, Mr. Schmitt leaves three devoted children, William J. Schmitt of Troy, NY, Rebecca A. Schmitt and Harry J. Schmitt both of Oxford, his brother John Schmitt of New York, NY and his sister, Amy McGoldrick of Garden City, NY and several nieces and nephews. His sister, Margaret Schmitt predeceased him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 12 noon at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford. Interment to follow at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home. 161 West Church Street, Seymour.
