I worked closely with Gene as a young man just out of the Army from 1984 through 1988. His guidance and professionalism as well as his sense of humor and friendship helped me get my first real start in life. I last had the chance to see Gene in 1998 while on a short trip to the Northeast. My sincerest condolences go out to his family and the community that he cared about so much.
